TYPE : HFC (Hydrofluorocarbons)
DESCRIPTION
R-410A is a zeotropic (mixture with components that have different boiling point) & HFC refrigerant blend consisting of HFC-125 (50%) and HFC-32 (50%).
R410A is designed for new R22 applications and widely used as a refrigerant in air conditioning applications due to less harmful influence on the environment than R22 (ODP=0).
The characteristics of R410A allow using a smaller displacement compressor, less coil and reduced refrigerant capacity while maintaining system efficiencies comparable to R22 equipment.
Due to the fact that R410A has very little refrigerant temperature glide the dew condensing temperature is lower than with R407C, which leads to higher system efficiency. With near zero glide characteristics, it is able to maintain a constant sub-cooling without a liquid receiver.
R-410A is incompatible with former used R-22 refrigerant. It should only be used in equipment specifically designed and constructed for higher pressure refrigerants. This refrigerants are using Polyolester (POE) oil.
The operating pressures of R410A is more than 50 percent higher than R22 and R407C, this higher pressure requires the use of high pressure compressors and other components capable of withstanding the higher pressures.
